Kauai is known as the garden isle. After a typhoon many years ago it
became rooster island. The typhoon spread chickens and roosters all
over the island. Now when you drive around there are roosters everywhere.
You can always get a wake up call on Kauai.

Love this, the colors are so vibrant!
you would find a lot of "models" of roosters in Key West Florida! They are roaming 'wild" in the streets and they are protected - this is now not a joke! I was living there on that island and we had them allover the yards - making a big mess, and a noise too... LOL..
Excellent painting!

Doug, You still have a unique and wonderful style with watercolor. We went to kendall together in illustration, I was one year behind you. I went on to Minneapolis College of Art ( Curtis Johnson Graduated from there). I got my Master degree from M.S.U. I have been teaching Illustration and Drawing ever since at various universities. I don't know about you, but Curtis had a big impact on my life and I miss him. Saw your work and thought I would touch base and let you know that I really enjoyed seeing that you were still making great art. Thanks
Hi Larry,
went to your universities website. Now I remember.
Nice to put a face with the name. Thanks again for visiting.
Kauai is my favorite - I KNOW those roosters!!!!! It's a beautiful wake up call and this is a gorgeous painting!
Simply devine artwork! Bravo! I enjoyed my visit and I shall return to watch for your new post..

Beautiful, Doug!!!
Thanks everyone for stopping by.
Nice to hear from such nice people.
nice!!
I like this one very much. The colors caught my eye instantly and it also has an abstract feel to it. As soon as I saw the use of color it reminded me immediately of Kandinsky. I love vibrant artwork like this that just jumps off the page.
