I thought I would throw this one in

Hey Buddette,

Remember ... an illustrator is only as good as his reference. I like the way it looked, but it's way to tedious for me anymore.

Beautiful illustration Doug!
Understand your feeling about the tediousness.

I used to do really tight renderings and always seemed to like the rough sketches better. They had more life (I am referring to my own work - not yours!) I can't imagine going back to that!

For one thing, I am too enamored with the next bright and shiny object to pursue!

I think I prefer the spontaneity of my present style.

I agree. I enjoyed the marker layouts and pencil sketches far more than the actual illustration. I love the feel of layout paper and tissue. " I love the smell of magic marker in the morning". My fine arts instructor always said to be spontaneous before anything.

Give me freedom or give me a large brush.
I love your comments Deb.

I love that - give me freedom or give me a large brush! The artist's credo.

unfortunately, markers make me ill upon taking the cap off - otherwise what a great way to start the day!!
