Sometimes I just have to paint something from somewhere
in my mind or imagination. It might take 30 seconds or
5 minutes, just enough to say the brush was wet the colors
were flowing and now I'm done. I've accomplished something.
That's right, I painted.

I have missed you PB. What have you been up to? Love this one. Nice mix of vague/mystery with some sharper areas that let me know exactly where I stand in the landscape. Very appealing. That burnt sienna in the left corner is brilliant.
Love it! Spent way more than 5 minutes but have been painting from somewhere in my mind for 3 years. It's a different trip. This is quite zen. Say, have you seen my friend Werner's recent shadow drawings? You may see some similarities with this one. Go to http://wernerpfarr.blogspot.com/
Hi Buddette,
First, how is Paul doing? Is he home already or does he have to spend more time in the hospital? Hope things are going well.
Ah, what have I been doing. Well I've been working in our yard for the last two weeks. Cutting down tree's, bushes, taking junk to the landfill. Leaves, leaves and more leaves. It was actually kind of pleasant working outside in the cool crisp weather. A good kind of tired at the end of the day. I thought about taking time out for painting but figured that I really needed to finish the yard before the weather turned worse.
Now I'm done so I guess I should get back in the studio or outside if the weather remains nice.
I've missed you too, but you've had good reason ... umm actually you didn't miss any posts. You're really something. Take care my friend. Glad you liked my little scribble.
Your painting Buddy
Gosh, hi Suzanne. Haven't posted much recently so I've missed your visits. I'm headed over to visit Werners shadow drawings. Now that I think about it, I see what you mean about painting from my mind. It's freeing for sure. Something else to try, I'd best get busy. Good to hear from you and thanks for your valuable insight.
Good attitude Doug. I need to do that. I have days when I'm thinking "I don't have time to paint today" because I don't have two hours to set aside. I just need to get into the studio even if it's for just a few minutes.
I love this painting!!! Very serene...and yes...very zen!
However long it took - it is like a meditation.
The act of painting freely what comes to the imagination, and the act of observing. This must be a very still and serene place you have in your head!
by the way - when you are done attending to your yard - I have one that needs some attention too...no loud leaf blowers though! shhhh.......
Good to see a new painting Doug! Someday soon I will too.!
David thanks, I have to spend more time doing this exercise to see what I discover. There are so many things I want to try I tend to be a little scattered with subjects and styles. There is no end to an artists road. It's infinite.
Chieftess, what have you been up to? Thanks for stopping by. I'm so glad you like the painting.
Hi Deb, it seems that when I can clear my mind, all of the scenes are part of nature, and usually include small lakes and ponds, green foliage, quiet nature sounds. They always seem to be of by gone days.
It sometimes makes me sad as well ... I know a lot of these images are gone but the images in my mind are not which is good.
As for your lawn care ... well, I hope it's a very small yard with no Sycamore trees. I have one of these tree's and the leaves are the size of dinner plates and take there time dropping them usually leaving some of them on top of the snow.
Unfortunately, I don't go anywhere without my leaf blower. Sure it's noisy but leaves no blisters on my hands from raking. Sorry, let me know if you change your mind. Laughing all the way.
Doug

So on thursday we take off for Southhampton Eng...board a cruise ship and head for Ft Lauderdale with a few stops in between!!! I'll be taking pics and checking blogs, but probably won't post anything until I return in Dec...Have a wonderful T-day everyone!!!
