This is the painting I left alone for a bit.
I was unsure of the direction plus some of the technical
problems created by this kind of contrast. I'm still not
sure if I'm through so I thought I would go ahead and post
I like the perspective in your painting those beautiful clouds are floating way over in the distance, the valley is leading the eye towards that striking yet delicate sky. The colours are especially nice creating a peaceful harmony. Don't get stuck if you are not sure start another painting, keep moving you are painting so well Doug.
Wow PB what beautiful deep space! I really like the way the softness in the foreground makes me go back even farther. As for thoughts, I have one. I would calm the colors of the clouds a bit since, to me, the real diva is the land and its amazing movement. I think the beautiful clouds take a piece of the spotlight. Just a little blotting of the intense yellow and pink so it drifts back. What do you think? I really do like this one!
Oh Yes, the boy is back and on fine form. The way you have skilfully captured the three dimensional perspective of the river valley is superb. It looks as though it is a depression which has been gouged out of the painted landscape.

Hi B, I knew you would jump on that sky like a duck on a june bug. I may change it at some point but for now I'm keeping it around as an example. It says to me ... Think, think, don't paint that sky until you're sure.
Thank you Roger, You're very kind. Yes I'm back but I fear the form is a little lumpy. I think if I could replace the sky with something far more simple, it would make a big difference. I do think that I finally captured the valley quite well.

This has so much depth and light. I really can "feel" being in that place and overlooking this valley. I think your trip has been good for you, Doug. Wonderful to see your work again.

The Woman life size bust you posted is just incredible. Would love to see your work in person. I'll have to figure that out.

This is a wonderful low flying bird's eye view. I agree entirely with Caroline - keep it as it is, and do a bunch more!!!
