I'm just plodding along following the path I'm on, know that there are many forks in the path to come. I appreciate your comments and visits ... means a lot. pb
I'm working really hard at keeping them expressive, recognizable and fresh. During these sessions I turn out so much ugly trash that I reallly question my ability to find what I had in my 20's. I know getting old really sucks.
Thanks Deb, you're always so encouraging! Mad Dog.
Sam, only you would come up with eloquent for Pouting Dreadlocks. I'm not nearly as quick as you with words but your words drive me onward. Thanks, Doug
Doug, this is really very nice. Couldn't you incorporate this style of figurative sketching with washes? Maybe with graphite wash pencils and them thin glazes in areas?...just a thought...
Thanks Maggie, I've been thinking of the technique you describe and how I can make it work. Umm sounds like some experimenting is in my future. Thanks again for the reminder Maggie. Doug
Wonderful expressive drawing. Love the burning colors in hairs. It should be a great combination of colors for wash work... Have fun Doug !Pleasure to discover your blog !
Yeah.. my folks used to drive me crazy because there were too many rules and both my sis and I used to make funny faces mimicking them when they were not looking.. and we used to ask them, "And i thought it was Sunday today.. " (Sunday sermons? get it?);D
Hurt? Nah. After Aikido and my life story- they gave me immunity.
Marcia, thank you. Means a lot coming from you. I so enjoy watching your blog and your great drawings. I have some new ones to post ... maybe I should do that, ya think?

This is great Doug. It has an almost 3-dimensional quality to her head - like she was cut out and placed over the background.
Anyway, I really love the freshness and energy in these sketches you've been doing.
If you're going to be this gestural, you have to pick just the right words. You did just that here. Very eloquent!
Very bold, and yet with a tenderness shining through...
Nicely done Doug!!!

Silver, so I remind you of your parents!
I hope that's a good thing. Hopefully my words didn't hurt to much. That was not my intention.
