Beach Umbrellas

This was a very hot sun on Lake Michigan sometime
ago.  I was drawn by the light on the people and
the color of the water.  The water is painted somewhat
graphically and the figures are more realistic.
This painting is sold, but I still like the image.
Size @ 12" x  18" on cold press 140#
Arches watercolor paper.

Hi Doug,
When I first looked at this painting, I thought it was a photo, its painted so realistically, though why I am surprised I dont know, as its painted by you, its brilliant..... :-D

Hi Stacey, thanks for your brilliant
comments. I really must paint with larger
brushes and a looser hand. I sometimes
get to close to the paper and focus in too
much and things become realistic. This has
never been my intention but sometimes it
still happens... Thanks my brilliant friend.

I am like stacy. I thought that it was a photo of your family that you were posting for us to see of your vacation when I popped over. Very, very nice... KC

Was coming in and checking on my blog and saw your comment there. Loved what you said about looking back on your life. I think that you will be very happy with what you have done.

Your paintings are brilliant. But, then I guess everyone has their own concept though of what is important and what needs to be accomplished.

With me, my goal is not about the money. The money is the perk to it all, if that makes any sense. I am trying to push myself. Something... something.. told me to do this. Now I am. I am quite the ordinary person who has decided to put it all out there and strive for more than I ever have in a very nonconventional way.

So far, I am having a ball, and waking up and living life very differently than I was before. I see life differently now... I am rambling... I will go, but thank you for taking the time to visit and read... it really means a great deal to me.. KC

I really, REALLY thought that was a photo too! I wish i were somewhere around where you are to probably take art-classes...I could really do with some mentoring and you seem to be REALLY good at it...

Do you sell to people in India? :)

I think what I like the most about the painting (other than the rich, inviting colors both of the water and the beach scene) is that you painted ~ not the typical beach bunnies on the sand ~ but a family atmosphere. It reminded me of when my family would go to the beach and my brother and I would fly kites along the shore. The innocence of joy.

Well, this shows spontaneous reaction on your part and down-to-earth naturalistic tendency. Great piece.

wow . The pics are so great. Now a days when people try to capture everything in their camera I am so happy to see someone capturing it in their mind.

Preeti thank you for you comments and interest. I do teach classes on a very limited basis since I like my free time.

Aleta, thank you for your kind and very observant comments. For me Beach Bunnies do not have a lot of character. It's the everyday person and interaction between people that interests me. I don't do a lot of people but I've been adding them more lately just as a spot of interest. The scenes in nature are only scenes if we as humans actually observe and define what we're looking at. Like if a tree falls in a forest, is there a sound if no one is around. Thank you again for your comments aleta.

Thanks for your comments and I hope your son becomes a great artist, or at a minimum just enjoys the process. That is the most important part of painting. If we don't enjoy the process the painting is most likely meaningless.
Good luck to your son and thank you for your kind comments.

cyclopseven. Thanks.

Mocha. I see far to many painters approach the process as to repllicate a photograph, Whats the point, take a picture,. My goal is to continue to search this medium and capture the subject in such a spontaneous way as to use the largest brush and the fewest strokes and still capture the essence of what i've seen. Thanks for stopping by.

This is such a pretty painting that would be displayed proudly on any wall. it's beautiful. I wish I were blessed with a hint of your talent.

Carole,thanks for your nice comments.
I always like to hear from new people.
You hinted at talent and call yourself
a beginning photographer. From what
I've seen, you have more than a hint of
talent. Your compositions are great,
your use of color is great, plus you have
such wonderful subjects to photograph.
Keep it up.
