Hi Doug, I found your blog through Nathan Fowkes' site. I really like your work! Inspiring!
Hi Edwin, Nathan is great isn't he.Thanks for your kind words. Went to your blog and was amazed by your creations. Beautiful stuff and thanks for following. I'm going to do the same. Thanks
Doug,You always amaze me! I was surprised to read it is a plein air piece...I think it was the detail. Beautiful atmospheric perspective...you have created a space that is so grand! I have a weird suggestion..try another version of this painting in the looser style of the last post, the one that reminds me of the energetic work of John Marin.
Buddette,Thanks ... amaze you eh?First, this was painted with only large flats and rounds. The detail is an illusion. I think that's the fun part of this size plein air piece. It was completed in under 90 minutes because of the heat that day. Well over 90 degrees with no breeze. Not a lot of flowing washes.I really like your idea of doing this again. I think I will try this today. I can't find the post where you mentioned John Marin. So I'm just going to go forward. Thanks as always for your faithful support and inspiration. I think blogging with you is just so cool. Thank you Buddette.Your painting Buddy.
