Watercolors by Doug Daniels. Uh?

Yah, I know it's not watercolor.  Right now watercolor
is killing me so I left it this afternoon and dragged out some
pastels.  Don't worry, I'm no threat to all of you wonderful
painter's that use pastels.  Back in the 60's when I was studying
Fine Arts & Illustration my prof. would walk by, stop and not
say anything.   Ten minutes would pass when he made another
circuit.  He stopped again behind me, stood there for a minute
then said "Um, that's too bad ... you had a nice drawing
ten minutes ago.

Long story short, this post should have been stopped at least
ten minutes before it did.  Too bad I have such a bad memory.

Please look at this as a place saver until I get my act back together
with watercolor.  Until later, paint and draw with passion.

Why is it that painters are so darn hard on themselves? You are part of a club the strives for more so when they get less than they desire frustration results...it's a darn good club. Whistler was in it, Sorolla was a member, as was DeKoonig. So be easier on yourself. Your landscape is beautiful yet with a sense of freedom. What sweeping distance!Keep on working. It will come.

Yo. When all else fails, paint and draw with humor. At its best, creativity is a joke. B0)

Hi B,

Thanks as always about the pastel. When I was done I went back and looked at your last post, that's when I said "Doug, you'd better get your watercolor mojo back". Thanks also for putting me in such an elite club.
Believe me I'm not always hard on myself. I've learned how to let go of a painting when it's going bad. That's a major accomplishment for me. I just turn it over and use it for color swabbing. In the past it would take me days to get over a failure (learning experience).
I'm learning, just at a slow pace.
Thanks B, you're always so great!

OK, this is really funny. When I first read your comment I looked at the B & O with the ). I said, what the hell is BO). An hour later I was back taking another look at blogs and I read yours again. Still puzzled and a little slow on the up take ... oh yeah, glasses and a nose with a smile. Dumdadumdum!

One of these days I'm going to post some of my creative jokes and cartoons. I was funny once.

Bark, mark, slurp ... wooooof!

I always love your posts! Thanks for reminding me to paint and draw with passion. I've forgotten that in the wake of a difficult commission.

Hey PB...glad you can let them go when they truly want to be free. And don't forget we are all on the learning curve...if we weren't our art would be dead.
now...go have some fun in the warm sedona sun!
