Just getting back into life drawing after about 45 years. Here are some rough

These are wonderful!!!
I don't have any to show - it seems all the life studies events are happening during working hours - grumble, grumble......darn work.

Nice studies, Dough! Do you had a real model?

Love these studies! especially the top far right and far left. I particularly like your use of two colors/warm cool.

Hi Deb, Thanks for your comments. I need a lot of practice to get back to where I used to be. I feel lucky here in a university town that there are at least 2 evening opportunities for life drawing. There is a drop in group that meets every Monday evening all year around. Currently, this is an evening college class.
I'm sorry work is a problem for scheduling. I remember those days. My sympathies.

Thanks Susanne,

Yes these are all live models

Loriann,
I agree with your selections. I just felt I should post them all, good and not so good because it's a process of growth and recapturing past skills. Wow, does that mean anything? As for the color use, I seem to be on a warm brownish orange and blues. Who knows, next week I may pick up totally different colors.

These are super unique and exquisitely proportioned. What more could you ask for?

Thanks Suzanne
Inspiring words from a wonderful artist.
Let's see, what more could I ask for ... the
steady hands of a 20 year old. HA!

Hi Doug, Thanks for checking in over on my side of the web, always nice to get a compliment from someone with your background.

You might be interested to hear that reading back into Rondell's blog a ways it's sure to be an elaborate put-on. Kindof a fun read but fanciful to the point that it's got to be an outright fake (the bad photoshop job placing her in a pie eating contest is a sure giveaway). Wish I had that much free time:)

You find the life in life drawing. So often sketches from models look like they've been drawn from photographs. These look like they could jump off the page. I can't wait to see more!

And hey, steady hands are overrated! :-)

Thanks Laurie,
I would much rather do these gesture drawings,
they say more about the artist and his observation of
the model. Nothing wrong with beautiful finished drawings. To me it's more exciting to try and capture the pose and personality by working fast. It's all more expressive.
