Wild Orchards by the Bay

Just finished today. 12 x 18 watercolor on Arches Cold Press.
Compare to the previous post of orchards. Two different days,
two totally different results. Mostly intensional. The suggestion
to try this came from my friend Loriann. Thanks Loriann, it
was a lot of fun.

Hello Doug. I really do like this very much and share your obvious delight with the result. The first version gave great perspective but lacked warmth. The new looser style with warmer colours and dynamic brushstrokes is very exciting. Well done my friend. Roger

I like the playful, loose and relaxed nature of this, Doug!

Thanks Roger, I did have fun painting this one. Didn't leave it from start to finish. Things I would change now but that will be for later.

Hi Chrissie,
It seems this was the most fun I've had in a while.
Nice to hear from you. Hope you are well.
Thanks

Doug, I thought the other one was very nice but this one is like a dance! A celebration for sure, and I want to go to that party!
(How's that for poetic?!) I do really like this one. Isn't it fun to see different approaches at the same subject? I also love seeing how different artists interpret a common subject.
Good suggestion from Loriann!

Hey Deb, very poetic indeed. You can write my descriptions from now on. This was very enjoyable and freeing. Now I'm into it and want to try a different one. You're invited to the party for sure!
Thanks as always for your enjoyable comments.
You make this fun.

PS I commented on this yesterday but I think I must have forgotten to do the spam word on the scroll down. Whoops.

Loriann, first thanks for your suggestion to try this. What would I do without your inspiration. Yes, it was a great deal of fun and spontaneous. I can see where I should have spent more time thinking, but I wasn't in the mood. I just let it take me where it wanted to go.
I think I'll try it again and see what happens.

Your painting Buddy

Hi Suzanne,

I always appreciate when you stop by because I know it's watercolorist to watercolorist. It was freeing to use colors like this and so much fun.
Thanks!

the color harmony is excellent. These colors all look very natural together. Adventurous and lush.
