East Tawas Explosion #2

I've got to keep shooting until I hit something!
This one is closer to the target than yesterdays version,
although I just noticed that the grasses along the front
are static ... equal spaces, lines the same width, that will
be fixed by tomorrow. Also, I could've warmed up one of
the blue background trees. Still not comfortable with the
style of painting. It seems so far from what I'm used to.
I'll experiment with it for a while and see where it goes.
It needs refinement and some outward confidence by the
arteeest.

Today, the wash brush didn't have total control. It took a coffee
break and I didn't, so took over until it tapped on my shoulder
and said "I'm Back".

Again no mercy! Have at it so I can learn something, huh?
I'm an old dog, so I can't learn new tricks, ooooh sorry Sam.
Hey did you all notice that we have a multiple award winner

She's an inspiration for a lot of us.

Till later everyone, and have a great and properous, peaceful

Just in ... artist realizes another boo-boo!

Notice the tree mass over the light house, now to the right, the light green tree. Can you see it?
OK I'll tell you ... the two tree clumps are exactly the same size and they both sit perfectly on either side of the center line. As Homer Simpson says "Doh"!

I have to say...I really prefer the one from yesterday!!! The colors and composition are better...Not as much depth in today's...and yeah...I agree with Homer Simpson re: the composition!!!

I love the contrast of soft, cool blues in the background here. I wish I could play with watercolours and come up with quality like this!

Wishing you a wonderful and creative New Year!

Hey PB!! I love reading your posts, you make me laugh! You are on a roll.. I like this one even more than yesterday's painting. (and I don't even like blues) There's a softness and depth paralleling the dynamic stroking...maybe it's because of the blue. The best part of all is you are exploring and reaching inside, listening to your intuition. Only good comes from that. Most artists are afraid to really do that.Instead they rely on reference material- creating in a different way. (remember an illustrator is only as good as his reference...someone smart told me that)
THIS IS BIG PB! 2010 is going to be awesome for you! Enjoy the roller coaster.

PS how big is it?
PPS it was easy to ignore the symmetry....it's funny how we miss stuff like that when working and really getting into it.

Well I finally made it back over here. I know you're not liking this new style that's emerged, but change is always uncomfortable and sometimes we just gotta go with the way it wants to be painted.

These are energetic and dynamic. My first reaction was wow! It will be fun to see how it evolves.

ps. how's the weather in your neck of the woods? Cold? It is insanely cold here. It warmed up to 0 today!

Hey Deb, we had a heat wave ... 9. T-shirt weather in this neck of the woods. Well that's not really true ... I don't even like going out and getting the morning paper. I throw on my Carhart artic wear.
I know, I'm such a ... I'm such an old guy and my skin is thin and me bones are brittle ... Well that's not true either. Nuf said. Have a pleasant sunday.
