OK, I think I've been through enough disasters to have figured out what to do. Today will be the measuring stick at least for today. Thanks B,
Your painting Buddy.

Thanks Sam & Dogs,

Today, I'm determined to create something positive.
I leave you now to stumble over to the drawing board.

Hey B,

Forgot to answer your question.
Yes it is charcoal, (pencil). The paper is in a large pad like news print, but it's much smoother and it's by Canson. Called a Biggie Pad. 50lb,

Doug, Love these value sketches. Do you ever do these in watercolour? I like to use a W&N colour called ‘Neutral Tint’ ……which is a warmish soft purple grey unlike cooler Paynes Grey. It is great for value sketches if you dive straight in with paint and water, and is dark enough to create five values quite easily with the addition of water…..sometimes I cheat and use white gouache as well (lol)....I think you will like the colour.
